PCI- Pharmacy Council of India has announced Pharm.D. Regulations 2008. Regulations framed under section 10 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 (8 of 1948). (As approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Health vide, letter No.V.13013/1/2007-PMS, dated the 13th March, 2008 and notified by the Pharmacy Council of India). Pharm.D: The duration of the course shall be six academic years (five years of study and one year of internship or residency)

GUJPHARM suggests and offers PGCC - Post Graduate Certificate Courses in Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, QA-QC, IPR, Marketing etc as Short Term Training Courses in specialized subjects.
Basic objective of such Courses is to make the Pharmacy Institute itself self sufficient and give the training and exposure to the students as per the need of Pharma Industries, CROs and R&D. Its my personal opinion and suggestion that Many Pharmacy Institutes of Gujarat can start PGCCs by their own and Pharmacy students did not require to waste time of 1-2 years and 1-3 lakhs of rupees for any other Institute or Center.
Additional to the basic degree of B. Pharm / M. Pharm, students can get certificate in the field of their interest and wish to join for profession. Add on courses can also help the student for Interview and at Job. Programme can be planned for 15 days / 2 months weekend / Special Batch. Basic fundamental of the syllabus for any Certificate is already in the B. Pharm / M. Pharm Syllabus Pharmacy Institute can add the update /recent part in the syllabus as per the need.
Retirement from LMCP but not from Profession
Ø Prof. D. D. Santani is retired as HOD and Professor Pharmacology Dept, L M College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad on 14th June 2008. He has started the Course of M.Pharm (Clinical Pharmacy) at ROFEL Pharmacy College, Vapi. Prof. D D Santani may continue at Vapi and new mission in near future. Best Wishes to Prof. D. D. Santani
